Online Card Classes Day 1: Heat Embossing

This is one of my favorite techniques.  As you can see I got carried away and made several.  I like to add stenciling and stamping to the backgrounds.  I experimented on the turtle one using an embossing resist.  I had trouble at first as the eclipse tape leaves a sticky residue, so make sure you really hit it with the anti stick powder tool first.

I think the goldfish (memory box) is my favorite.  You can't tell from the picture but the background paper is from a package of fancy rice paper scraps that I got on etsy for a project.  Ever buy something for a project and then you can never find that project inspiration again!!  Thats why I love these classes, you always know where they are.  This picture is actually sideways, but the background is a really cool lateen stamp form Impression Obsession.

Here are the turtles.  I stamped and then heat embossed the swirls as a resist and then inked with DI salty ocean, tumbled glass and chipped sapphire.
Next is my white Adirondack Chair (I.O.).  I think I will be using that die a lot!  It is so cool.  It was hard to remove the intricate pieces after I embossed the whole thing.  It would be easier to remove the chair after I inked but before I emboss. The "sand" was some random stuff I picked up at Joannes.  The white blobs were a little bigger than I wanted, but the sparkles are great.

The next two were done using a tan/brown inchie square.  They came out better than I thought.  The olive DI covered quite well and then I stamped using the Wendi Vecchi Adirondack/Ranger Inks.  For these two and the birds, I have 3 different "peel offs" leaving the snail swirl and the acorns unembossed.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog!  I'd love to hear from you.

  2. There are seriously cool cards! I loved reading about your process of creating them. I especially love the first one...the goldfish...but they are all so beautiful in their own unique way. I also wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a nice comment. Have a great weekend! <3 Candy
